WING Compact detachable flip case: specify the console and show workflow

A procurement guide to model verification, flip and lift travel, control clearance, working height, cabling and deployment order for a WING Compact case.

Confirm the exact console and installed configuration

The RFQ should identify Behringer WING Compact as the actual console model and distinguish it from other WING configurations. The buyer should confirm the unit revision where relevant, measured body dimensions, transport weight and every item that remains fitted: connector covers, adapters, brackets, lamps, tablets, wireless devices or other accessories. Manufacturer data may be supplied as reference, but the design record should say which dimensions and weights were verified on the physical console.

Photograph the front, rear, sides and underside in both transport and operating condition. Label fixed surfaces, removable accessories, cable exits and zones that may or may not accept support. Even a small added bracket can alter the lid clearance or the balance of a detachable assembly, so configuration changes must return to drawing review.

Map the detachable flip and lift path before selecting the mechanism

Describe every position in order: packed, unlatched, lifted or assisted, flipped, locked for use and detached if required. For each transition, the buyer should confirm the desired direction of movement, available overhead and rear space, who supports the console, where hands are placed and where the removed part is parked. A side-view sequence or short video of the preferred workflow is more useful than the word “flip” alone.

The hinge line, travel, stops, latches and any lift-assist concept are engineering selections based on the verified console, operating path and handling method. Do not assume a mechanism type, force, travel limit, permitted mechanism loading or cycle performance from the product name. The drawing should also prevent an operator from having to reach through cables or across controls during opening and closing.

Design clearance around controls, screens and connectors

Check the hand envelope above faders and knobs, the viewing angle and unobstructed area around screens, and access to every connector used at the venue. The buyer should identify which ports remain connected during use, supply plug dimensions and required cable bend radii, and mark cables that must be attached before or after the console reaches its working position. Foam or hardware contact must be kept away from controls, displays, sockets and ventilation areas identified in the approved input.

Define the real operating height at the venue: floor or stage level, caster or base height, expected operator posture and preferred hand position. Show cable direction, strain-relief point, service loop and route to the stage box or rack without inventing a universal clearance. Working height, sight line and cable space should be reviewed with the actual operator or an agreed mock-up.

Rehearse transport, opening and closing in sequence

Document the route through doors, lifts, ramps and vehicle openings, then write a numbered process for unloading, placing the case, removing or storing covers, connecting, raising or flipping, operating, powering down, disconnecting and repacking. Confirm which steps require two people or lifting equipment and where loose parts are stored. The reverse sequence matters: a connected cable or uncleared accessory can block closing even when the open setup works.

Before production, compare the revised drawing with the actual WING Compact and approve the packed and operating envelopes, mechanism path, work height and connector clearance. Unverified figures remain buyer-confirmation items, while materials, construction and mechanism details remain subject to engineering confirmation. Use of the Behringer WING Compact name identifies the buyer’s equipment only; it does not imply manufacturer authorization, endorsement, certification, delivery commitment or a specific performance level.
